Description

Jasper is an Eye of the Sanctum. He was once a faithful member of the Church i.webpLast Church, but was made a part of the Eyes of the Sanctum sometime after being exposed to an Angel's true form during an ascension rite.

Backstory

Deep in the underground of the cathedral, the hymn of the goddess chanted by the small group of Church Follower i.webpfaithful echoed through the angel’s enclave. Flying gracefully around the communion, Valhyni and Nobilia were the only witness to this untainted melody of adoration. Jasper, eyes closed in communion shed tears of joy. Overwhelmed by the emotions of this faithful moment marking his rite of ascension and dazed by the large mist of incense, the young man lost himself in the euphoria of the chorus.

As his trance faded, Jasper recovered his senses, suddenly realizing that he was the only one left singing the hymn. As he stopped reciting the holy words, he began to hear the erratic flutter of wings that had replaced the graceful aerial dance of the angels. What was mere moments ago an ode to purity soon became a hellish soundscape void of hope. Damp sounds of tearing and munching accompanied by splatter echoing on the stone floor did nothing to attenuate the horror of a discordant symphony of human wails. Terror was welling up within Jasper as his paralyzed mind was assaulted by the ostensible madness surrounding him. Mustering the last of his faith and courage to open his eyes, Jasper was greeted by a sight so dreadful that he couldn’t fathom the twisted nature of its revelation. The only truth he could comprehend was that whatever he was looking at couldn’t be called an angel and in any way or be associated with the concept of “good”. His feeling of betrayal was dwarfed by the pure despair drawn from the conclusion that he was about to join his peers as banquet for these winged abominations he once worshiped.
